Mariam El Mofty is an Egyptian-Yemeni photographer based in London, with a BA in Political Science & Islamic Arts and Architecture from the American University in Cairo. In 2007, El Mofty embarked on a professional career in photography. After a long journey of freelancing, exhibiting and assisting, she completed her Postgraduate Studies in Photography Practice from the London College of Communication - University of the Arts London, in 2009, followed by an MA in Photography in 2010 at the University of West London.
El Mofty is a passionate photographer and constantly inspired by her surroundings. Her work mainly evolves around the meaning of portraiture in all its forms. She is also interested in contemporary photography; she creates a lot of personal photographic work based on phases of her life, as she believes that photography is her door to understand life in general.
