Born in Egypt in 1976, Sayed Waked graduated from The Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo University in1998. He is currently a member of the Syndicate of fine artists in Egypt.
Waked specializes in contemporary glass sculpture and glass product design. His use of glass began through his work as a creative designer of handcrafted antiques and decorative glass. Sayed always pursues the relationships between objects and shapes and the possibility of linking them to the materials. He believes that the transparency of glass that distinguishes it, adds meaning to his work and has the ability to dazzle the eyes in its simplest forms.
His first participation in the art scene was through a glass sculpture in the Salon of Small Artworks in 2001. Waked has had 4 solo exhibitions and 28 group exhibitions. He participated in 6 international events, including 3 biennials specialized in glass. his work varies between pure abstraction and different forms. He adds variation through different effects using transparent or opaque glass and colours like silver and gold.
