Rania Shaalan

Rania Shaalan takes as her artistic inspiration her unyielding passion for human relationships as well as the love, togetherness, and separation that defines human existence.

Born in 1970, in the USA,  Shaalan graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago after majoring in Sculpture. Shaalan participated in several group exhibitions and attended the Aswan Symposium in 2003. The Egyptian Museum of Modern Art bought one of her pieces. In addition to being a sculptor, Shaalan plays piano as well as guitar and composes, sings, and writes her own songs. She made her first stage appearance in the Cairo Opera House with Grammy Award winner Fathy Salama.
