Eman Abdou is an Egyptian visual artist whose work explores themes of spirituality, psychogeography, and nature. She holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Painting Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST).

A member of Art POWA—a writing and publishing support network for Africa-based visual arts scholars at Rhodes University, South Africa—Eman also serves as a jury member for Walk. Listen. Create. in Belgium.

Her artistic portfolio includes notable solo exhibitions such as “Domestic Relations: The Couch” and “Vortices of Holy Basil.” She actively participates in symposia, exhibits both nationally and internationally, and her work is held in private collections in Egypt and abroad.

Eman’s contributions to research are significant. She worked on the BECAMI (Belle Époque Cairo Museums Itinerary) project, funded by the AHRC and STDF, and was the principal investigator for “Paintings’ Stories... the Forgotten Route,” supported by AFAC. Her project “Nile Whispers” was presented during Meeting Oceania in Australia. Additionally, she is a collaborator in “Reading Water: A Contemplative Ecology of the Rivers Nile (Egypt) and Thames (UK).”

Through her art and research, Eman Abdou continues to contribute meaningfully to contemporary discourse and cross-cultural dialogue.
