“Fades Away”, A Solo Exhibition by Walid Taher |
|
In his body of work, titled "Fades Away", Taher once more seamlessly bridges the separate realms of visual art and the written word. In this collection, the artist set out to explore the verses of poetry by renowned poet Wadie Saadeh. It is the age-old unison of music and lyrics, using bold vivid colours to create an emotional symphony of art, words and meaning. |
Over the past week, Arts Mart Gallery had the opportunity to partake in the World Youth Forum. The gallery was invited to represent the Egyptian contemporary art industry at the World Youth Forum in Sharm El Sheikh. Arts Mart put up a special presidential exhibition where President Abdelfattah El Sisi welcomed the visiting heads of state and youth leaders visiting from across the globe. The open air exhibition showcased the works of six of our most popular artists: Mohamed El Sharkawy, Ali Saeed, Lina Mowafy, Asmaa Samy, Klay Kassem, and Mohamed Sabry. Furthermore, the gallery also exhibited the artists’ works at a second location; The Forum Spot, President Abdelfattah El Sisi as well as the Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly paid a special visit to this location and discussed the future of the arts with Gallery Director, Lina Mowafy.
The artists were able to openly talk about their challenges and ask for more support for the arts. The event was a fantastic opportunity to pave the way for Contemporary Egyptian Art moving forward. The President welcomed all suggestions and showed tremendous support. Upon our return from the forum, the President’s office followed up with us regarding the artists’ requests and are currently working on solutions that will greatly benefit Egyptian artists and galleries in times to come.
