Watercolorist Yasser Gaessa has earned an international following for his illustrations that artfully blend visual beauty with satirical critique.
Gaessa graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Helwan University in 1992. He was a winning artist at the International Board of Books for Young People in 2016 and aided in the creation of the 2014 Art of the World Art Symposium, which brought together 70 incredible artists from 25 countries. He also served as a visual consultant in 14 projects from 1998 to 2010 and painted illustrations for 68 books for children. He has also done work as a political cartoonist for Rose Al Yousuf (1992-2003); Al Ahram Newspaper (1994-1999); and Al Masry al Youm Newspaper (2004). His works are in the permanent collection of the Cam Museum in Italy, and he is a member of the Syndicate of Egyptian Journalists and the Federation of European Cartoonists Organization (FECO).
