Sameh Refaat’s style tends towards abstraction, as it gives him the freedom to make his feelings and thoughts flow through his art. He uses a variety of different media, as well as colors and textures, for which he draws inspiration from his surrounding environment that ranges from landscapes and nature to Egyptology and archaeology.
Born in 1976, Refaat earned his FA from Helwan University in 2002 and subsequently completed his High Diploma in Art Education from that same institution in 2013. He has garnered awards for his work, including a scholarship to Luxor’s atelier organized by the Ministry of Culture (2003), and has maintained an active exhibition schedule for his art. Recent exhibitions include: a digital photography exhibition organized by Townhouse Gallery in Cairo (2008); a solo exhibition in Cairo Atelier titled “City of Faces” (2010); and the Agenda Exhibition at Alexandria Library in Alexandria (2012).
