Experimenting with textures and objects derived from daily life, painter Rania Abu Elazm elevates these everyday references to a new plane of beauty through the act of artful recombination. Gestural strokes and saturated colors make Elazm’s work resonate with a universal beauty that is hard to deny.
Elazm is an Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Helwan University. She holds an AM degree in painting. Rania has participated in group exhibitions between 2003-2018 as well as a solo exhibition, entitled "Line x Color,” in 2015. She has also received awards from Helwan University (2015); the Society of Fine Art Lovers (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010, respectively); Port Said Biennale 2009; General Display Award in the 27th Youth Salon 2016; the 38th General Exhibition (2016, 20170; the 28th Youth Salon (2017); the White-Black Salon (2017), the exhibition of Heritage Revival of the French University in Cairo; and the 58th Cairo Salon (2018). Her work is included within the collections of the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art, CIB Bank, and private individuals in Egypt and abroad.
