Mostafa Abdel Fattah

Mostafa Abdel Fattah (1942- 2013) was an Egyptian artist born in Cairo, Egypt. In 1968, he received his bachelor's degree from the faculty of Applied Arts of Helwan university  where he later on received his Masters degree in Mural Painting then his Doctorate degree in Philosophy and was granted a position there as a tenured professor.

His work is part of the permanent collections of the Ministry of Culture, The Egyptian Museum of Contemporary Art, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Al Ahram Organization. 

Abdel Fattah has held several solo exhibitions and has participated in group exhibitions along his career on both a local and an international scale. 

He started his career with the awakening of the contemporary art scene in Egypt and thus his journey witnessed the prime of Egypt’s Pioneers Generation and the shift towards National culture, traditions and nature. Within Abdel Fattah’s works, he merged elements from his local environment and traditions. His body of work often portrayed man’s interaction with nature, hunting, harvesting or contemplative loneliness. In his work, there is complete harmony between time and place with an underlying rhythm of folk tales.
