Egyptian artist and photographer Mohamed El Masry uses his incredible creative skill to create imagery that pushes the bounds of reality. From augmented photographic frames to bold canvases that explore the abstract play with form and value, El Masry has carved out an aesthetic that is both unique and universal.
Based in Cairo, El Masry completed his BFA from Helwan University's Faculty of Art Education in 2004. He also finished intensive educational programs on visual arts and their social role, and how to employ arts to serve society, correct behaviors, and practice social guidance. In 2006, he completed a diploma in photography and painting from Helwan University. He is a founding member of Olympia Fine Arts Association (www.ofaaartists.com), which is an association for exceptional artists. He serves as a representative for www.africancolours.com in Egypt and North Africa. El Masry's art has been exhibited in numerous biennales and cultural festivals from 2000 to 2013 in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Germany, China, Indonesia, India, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Italy. He has won several awards, most importantly the Golden Medal for Arts in Beijing Olympics in 2008, the Olympic Torch of the winter Olympics in Toronto in 2006, and the Memorial Medal of Banja Luka City-Bosnia.
