Maryam's artworks are about a naïve vision of sea creatures. Her admiration for the sea inspired her to dive regularly especially in South Sinai which helped interpret her artworks with what she saw underneath the surface.
Maryam's artwork , titled “Naïve vision of the sea creatures” , highlighted the concept of vulnerability of sea creatures with their precious ecosystems. Rendered using oxides ,oil paints, and acrylic ink, Maryam captured a vibrant underwater habitat that's bursting with life. From tropical fish to colorful coral, each hand-drawn motif plays a vital part in the overall picture, just like every creature in the ocean has an important part to play.
She stated that “If you were to take away one element, then the composition would be off in just the same way as taking away one element completely in a real-life sense would have huge repercussions for the rest of the ecosystem” which explains how her artwork as a whole combines different elements to create a realistic vision of the ecosystem as a whole.
