Cairo-based Mai Refky is a figurative artist who works in painting, drawing and mixed media. Her atmospheric compositions that play with form and color make them a dazzling exploration of contemporary abstraction.

Born in 1976, Refky holds a BA in Fine Arts from Helwan University and has studied Islamic Art and Architecture at the American University in Cairo. She has exhibited in Egypt as well as abroad in Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon. Her paintings have been acquired by the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art in Cairo and the Contemporary Art Museum of Vukovar in Croatia.
