Hesham Barakat is an Egyptian artist born in Giza in 1963. He graduated from High Institute of Cinema in 1989. He then worked in several films and televised projects. Hesham’s natural artistic talent has been always evident since childhood and thus his career in visual arts commenced after he studied Fine Art in Spain. He then moved to the United States where he participated in several group exhibitions.
Hesham’s technique and work has developed as his career progressed, where he experimented with different styles and schools of thought. His journey has taken him to the point where his art was created to express spirituality and secrets of the innermost struggles. Hesham believes that an artist is born from the womb of suffering. This dramatic manifesto is the reason for the artist’s choice of eccentric and deep subjects, it is also the reasoning behind using camouflage in a spontaneous manner.
Barakat has recently moved to Cairo and is currently actively participating in the art scene through group exhibitions and further experimentation with mixed media and collage work.
