Hani Mahfouz (b. 1965, Alexandria) is an Egyptian artist and designer who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1988. Engaging deeply with the nuances of daily life in Egypt, Mahfouz creates works that fuse graphic, industrial, and fashion design elements, enriching the viewer’s connection with time and place.
In 1997, he founded Hani Mahfouz Designs (h|m|d), a studio dedicated to art products that transcend traditional design boundaries. His solo exhibitions include Line Drawing at L'atelier du Caire (1994), Nothing at Soma Art Gallery (2018), From Nine to Five at Cairopolitan (2021), and Printellix 22 at Shelter Art Space (2022).
Mahfouz has also participated in various group exhibitions such as the 1st Youth Salon (1990), Cairo Prints at Cairopolitan (2020, 2021), and Art Cairo at The Grand Museum (2023). His TEDxCairo talk, The Second Death, offers deeper insight into his distinctive approach to art and design.
