Halla El Shafey PSA PS IAPS (MC) is an international multiple award winning pastel artist who has exhibited extensively in Egypt and abroad. Known for her distinctive signature style in pastels, Halla has striven to revolutionize the use of soft pastels from its use as a classical representation medium to more contemporary experimental and expressionist abstraction.
Influenced by her love of the natural world, her paintings are based on her observations of the greater universe, her dreams, and meditations. Many of her paintings also reflect humanitarian and developmental issues of concern to her, including women and child rights.
Halla exhibits extensively in pastel salons and Biennales abroad and has received 14 international art awards and recognitions since becoming a full time artist in 2012. Her works have been featured in international art magazines such as the Pastel Journal and Pratique Des Arts. She is an elected Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and elected member of the Pastel Society of England. She received membership in the Master Circle of the International Association of Pastel Societies ( IAPS) in 2020. Her works have been acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in Egypt and by private and corporate collectors in Egypt and abroad. Halla Shafey holds a B.A and M.A in economics from the American University in Cairo.
