Born in 1972, Egyptian artist Fayrouz Samir graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1995 and earned her doctorate in Philosophy of Art in Painting in 2008. She is currently an associate professor in the painting department of the same faculty.
Fayrouz's body of work is mostly inspired by feminist issues such as societal pressures that women face. She aims to portray the effect of various life experiences on a woman's body language and demeanor.
She has participated in over 50 local and international exhibitions and her artworks are among the permanent collections of several Egyptian ministries as well as organizations and avid art collectors.
