Born in 1971 in Cairo, Egypt where she currently lives, Esraa Yasser obtained her BA in 1993 and in 2003 she obtained her Masters degree and PhD in painting. She now works as an Assistant Professor in the Painting department.
Over the years, Esraa experimented with different techniques and mediums to get to her current style, she has experimented with watercolor, oil painting, acrylics, stones, and stained glass. Within her work, Esraa balances colours, movement, energy and texture to create a unique final result.
Her earlier body of work was influenced by cubism, followed by her use of colored glass and ceramics “Sornaga” to create new style of her own. Throughout the years, her style developed further; she introduced her new ideas through the collection ‘Google’em Up’ which was influenced by satellite vision and Google Maps where she used stained glass, mosaics, stones, and marbles with coloured binder.
Esraa's work is acquired by avid collectors in Egypt and can be found within the permanent collection of the Ministry of Culture and the Museum of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Egypt as well as in the Plastic Arts and Antiques Museum in the UAE, and Zervas art Gallery in Greece.
Esraa attended and participated in many conferences and art fairs on a global scale. She was awarded first prize in the National Competition of Fine Arts in Cairo 2001, and first prize in the International Symposium of Greece by Zervas Art Gallery, as well as in the Global Mosaic competition 2019 by Caravan Arts.
