Azza Ezzat

Born in Cairo in 1980, Azza Ezzat is an Egyptian emerging visual artist. Initially, she'd planned on becoming an
architect, but after completing her BSC in Architecture from Ein Shams University in Cairo, she opted for a career
change and pursued a two-year art diploma from Helwan University's Faculty of Applied Art. Her first solo
exhibition was held in 2009, and she continues to develop her technique and style as an artist. The influence of

her architectural training is evident in her paintings, which are predominantly in black and white with a tendency
towards pen and ink. Through her geometrical shapes and fixation on no more than three colours, Ezzat
captures the shadows and chaos of city life, finding beauty in the mundane everyday fixtures such as roads,
lampposts and windows.
