Aliaa Bishr was born in Cairo 1989; She is a painter and illustrator who graduated from the Faculty of Biotechnology in 2010. Bishr is currently studying Fine Arts at Helwan University.
She is an expressionist whose characters are quite unique and rich with imagination. Her work is mostly inspired from the Egyptian culture and childhood memories. Her famous characters are Hourya and Birdie from her first series “Another World “. Hourya is a little girl with red curly hair and a blue face and lives in space with her friend Birdie, who is half bird and half human and is coloured in yellow and blue. Bishr has also reinterpreted through her imagination beautiful landscapes in accentuated pastel colours to bring out the beauty of natural scenery through her art .
Bishr’s work was featured in more than 20 group exhibitions in Sharjah, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Alexandria and New York.
