Painter and muralist Alaa Awad is inspired by ancient Egyptian heritage and contemporary society, with some of his most celebrated works centered on the themes of victory, Sufism, Egyptian social life, and culture.
Born in 1981, Awad earned his BA in Fine Arts from South Valley University (SVU) and subsequently completed his MA in the same field at Helwan University. Today, Awad serves as an assistant lecturer while completing his PhD at SVU. His working dissertation title is, “Artistic Vision Inspired by the Murals of War and Peace in Ancient Egyptian Art” and will be completed in 2019. Awad has also served as a demonstrator within the Faculty of Fine Arts SVU since 2006.
